What is Web 2.0?
Web 2.0 is a hot topic these days, to me actually it seems that we are beyond the world of 2.0. Anyway, some of you sent me emails asking what I thought about emerging technologies on the Web and what Web 2.0 means to me. When I think of Web 2.0, I think of the explosion of Social Networking Sites, blogs, wikis, video sharing, RSS; to me that's the beginning of Web 2.0, of course everyone has different concepts on when Web 2.0 began. We have added a great video from YouTube in our 'Computers' subject page on this topic, be sure to check it out. In terms of emerging technologies, there are so many things out there, I am talking about Open Source Platforms. The power of the Web comes from sharing and moving forward with open source developments. Google, Mozilla, and many other groups are taking a lead on these emerging technologies. The next idea I am intrigued by is the future Semantics web, where meaning will be brought on to the millions of pages of text on the Web. In this concept, computers will be able to understand words rather than just showing them. It seems that the limits of technology is infinite. As always, thanks for supporting SciTechScholar!
